Sue Teranishi
President
Sue has been an active SABA volunteer for many years and just joined the SABA Board in 2011. She has tabled for SABA for many events to recruit members and educate the public about SABA, helped with valet bike parking, the Light On program and parkway clean-up, planned the volunteer thank-you parties in 2009 and 2010, has chaired the Board recruitment committee and the Executive Director Search Committee, currently serves as Board secretary and on the planning committee for the Velo Ball.
Career-wise, Sue was a pioneer promoting clean air commuting since 1987 and developed the program at the CA Franchise Tax Board as its first Employee Transportation Coordinator. She has also worked at SACOG, CalEPA and the CA Department of General Services encouraging ridesharing and bicycling. She is currently doing outreach for the Sacramento Transportation Management Association, serves on the May is Bike Month Steering Committee and coordinates vendors for the Capitol BikeFest.
Sue started bike commuting in 1999 to train for the Emigrant Trails Bike Trek which is sponsored by Breathe California of Sacramento, where she also serves on their Board. Sue is a fair-weather utility cyclist and primarily bicycles for short trips under 5 miles instead of getting into her car. She also serves on the mission committee at her church and has been on several Katrina Recovery mission trips to the Gulf Coast. She enjoys traveling, especially with or visiting her two adult sons.
Ryan Sharpe
Vice President and Interim Treasurer
A Sacramento native, Ryan works as the information technology manager for a local retirement plan administrator. After the bike ride home, one might find him wrenching at the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen, pedaling a squealing and overloaded cruiser-converted mountain bike home from the grocery store, or even cannon-balling through midtown traffic to make it to yoga on time.
Ryan considers himself a utility and transportation rider almost exclusively, but can easily see how track racers, road warriors, and mountain bikers can enjoy the sport aspect of biking. He was introduced to the world of bicycle advocacy by fellow riders in an undergraduate California State University Sacramento class about the politics of the under-represented. Through class participation and bicycle culture networking, he helped reorganize Sacramento Critical Mass, discovered an intimate knowledge of California Vehicle Code section 21202, managed the Bicycle Kitchen, participated in fundraising rides like AIDS/LifeCycle, and, of course, joined SABA.
He harbors mixed feelings about Lycra, doesn’t always come to a complete stop at stop signs, and often takes the lane, even when he probably shouldn’t.

Chris joined the Board in 2011, taking on leadership roles in our planning projects, including the Carlson Corridor.

Charles joined the Board in 2009, serving as Vice President and President and providing a vital link to our Folsom affiliate.
Melinda Pederson

Melinda joined the Board in 2012.
Jeffery Rosenhall
Member at Large
Jeffery also joined in 2011, bringing his valuable experience in public health policy to bear as a tool to SABA’s bicycle promotion efforts.
