SABA is partnering with Community Shop Class (CSC) and Sierra Service Project (SSP) to create Community Bike Shop, a youth-led effort that will teach young people bicycle mechanics and repair, e-bike conversion kit installation, and business skills.

The Bike Shop classes will be geared towards neurodivergent youth as well as other young people in the neighborhood. The students will learn workforce skills that build sustainable transportation and support others.

SABA held its cycling celebration – Velo Ball – on October 5 to help outfit and launch the project and on October 17, local philanthropy group Impact100 Sacramento awarded SABA a $25,000 grant, helping us move closer to our goal.

We are still taking donations for the new bike collective and you can help us! Any amount is helpful. Let’s launch this shop in style!

Community Shop Class is dedicated to creating an inclusive and sustainable working and learning environment for neurodivergent and underserved communities. Programs such as the ADHD Inventor’s Club encourage neurodivergent learners to explore and familiarize themselves with the tools and skills required to join the workforce.

Sierra Service Project‘s purpose is to build strong connections and resilience among communities, by equipping volunteers in home repair skills and community-based projects. Making necessary home repairs accessible to historically underserved residents allows communities to thrive and individuals to safely age in place.
