Students from the July 2025 Learn 2 Ride class.
Upcoming Classes
Dates, times, and locations:
- Next classes - No classes in December; we will resume classes in January 2026
- Location: Miller Regional Park, 2701 Marina View Drive, Sacramento - in parking area to the north, closer to Broadway.
- This class will focus on learning to ride a bike and is open to people of all ages (Level 1). If you already know how to ride but need a refresher on good cycling practices, this is also the class for you (Level 2). League Cycling Instructors will assess your skill level and give coaching tips. If enough cyclists are ride-ready, there will be a short trail ride.
Classes are open to all ages.
To register
- Pay $25/person for the class. Be sure to note this is for "Learn 2 Ride” and indicate which date you will attend.

- If neither of the above options work for you, contact Arlete at arlete@sacbike.org.

- Buy a used bike in good condition from the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen.
- Make an appointment with SABA staff to see if they have a bike which can be rented for a nominal charge.
- If you have a bike and it needs some basic repair, find a Ride Ready Repair clinic on SABA's events calendar.
- Rent a bike from Peak Adventures at Sacramento State University.

What you will learn
All classes are 2 hours long.
Level 1: Learn the basics of cycling so you can go on rides with family or friends. Join experienced League Cycling Instructors for a 1½ hour class where you will learn to balance and glide, use power pedal for a strong takeoff, and soon…pedaling success. Basic mastery: ride in a straight line, controlled stop, and ride briefly with just right hand will qualify you to take the next level.
Level 2: For those who know how to ride but would like to advance their skills. In this 1½ hour class you will learn to scan and signal to change lane positions, how to go through an intersection correctly (straight, left and right turns), how to change gears for riding efficiency. Basic mastery will qualify you to go on a trail or low-density street ride for the second half of class which will include tips for group riding and trail etiquette.
Level 3: Build your skills and confidence on a 1½ hour street ride. Practice lane positioning, scanning, signaling and merging, riding through intersections, group riding skills, and safe cycling practices on different types of streets.
In the meantime, you can watch some videos that show how the class is taught.
