2025 Membership Meeting Presentation

People sit in a room around tables looking at a presentation.

SABA held a membership meeting on September 10, 2025 to appreciate SABA members and to give a presentation on what SABA is currently working on and our plans for the future.

We also asked our members for feedback on what their priorities for cycling in Sacramento are and how they think SABA is doing. We got some great positive comments!

It's not too late to become a member if you're not one already.

"It's pretty amazing," said Board Member Sue Teranishi, "as you listen to all the staff, the amount of work they accomplish to make Sacramento a great place to cycle."

SABA’s Policy Team has identified three large policy areas to focus on for advocacy.

  • Safety for cyclists on roads and trails
  • Secure bicycle parking

Advocacy for policies need to be able to answer how they will:

  • Increase safety for cycling
  • Involve partners to support bicycling as an active mode of transportation
  • Accelerate getting to a complete cycling network
  • Address climate change
  • Address Vision Zero

Which of these advocacy “buckets” would make most difference to you?

  1. Safety on Roads & Trails – got the most votes
  2. Completing a low stress bike network – close to #1 – a fewer less votes

  • Organize a few big rides like century rides, etc. for fundraising and publicity.
  • Critical mass ride
  • How to get around without a car including cycling and public transportation.
  • I love cycling in Sac!
  • Grow the membership. The more people that join means more advocates.
  • Sponsor Bike Day at local schools.
  • Collaborate with transit agencies – bikes on buses.
  • Biking is local, community involvement.
