Ride Ready Repair Services

Supporting Cyclists through Education, Mentoring, and Bike Repair

Three men work on a bike that's on a stand.

SABA supports cyclists through hands-on education, youth mentoring, and professional bike repair. We operate our “pop-up” clinics in residential and business complexes, schools, parks, and at various community events.  This past year, we made over 2,000 bicycles ride-ready.

Training Tomorrow’s Mechanics

We offer special Ride Ready clinics designed to teach the fundamentals of bicycle maintenance and repair. Safe riding classes led by a cycling instructor certified by the League of American Cyclists contribute to this comprehensive program. New Mechanic Orientation takes place every second Wednesday 6-9 pm at SABA headquarters. See our Events Calendar for dates.

A Community Focus

The costs associated with taking your bike to a local bike shop for even basic repairs are beyond the economic means of many of our citizens. To eliminate this obstacle, SABA works with schools and community organizations to help them envision, plan, create, and operate their all-community-run, not-for-profit bike center.

This educational program incorporates expert instruction and mentoring from SABA mechanics, textbook and online video content from the Park Tool School, and crucial hands-on experience gained by working alongside our mechanics at our repair clinics. We are fortunate to have several mechanics come to SABA with years of experience in bike collective operations and management.

Supplemental programmatic resources are made available online. Our programs are open to all, regardless of age, race, gender, orientation, political affiliation, immigration status, or religion.

Why We Do It

SABA works with Sacramento’s elected officials, community leaders, and educators to identify and support those communities that are underserved and economically challenged.

SABA’s bike repair program addresses specific and unique community needs. It will help ensure that all people, regardless of race, creed, gender, age, orientation, and economic status, can access free bike safety and repair services.
