Tuesday, Aug. 5 is National Night Out, when residents of towns and cities across the US and Canada celebrate their communities and build safer neighborhoods.

Join the celebration with a special evening bike tour of classic neon in downtown Sacramento.

We’ll meet at 7:45 at the Tower Theater, nearest Land Park Drive just south of Broadway, and roll out at 8:00. We’ll check out the neon signs at the bars, clubs, theaters and retail businesses that brighten downtown. We’ll circle back toward Broadway and finish with a visit to Jugglin’ Joe, one of Sacramento’s most memorable neon creations, at Gunther’s Ice Cream in Curtis Park, where 40 flavors await you. The entire route is about 5 miles.

ABOUT THE RIDE: We’ll be traveling as a group at a casual, friendly pace, with a ride leader and sweeper so no one feels lost or left behind. We’ll stick mainly to quieter streets, but we will encounter some traffic and we’ll cross several busy streets, including Broadway, 16th, 15th and J, so please be able to handle those conditions.

Gunther's Ice CreamAnd as we’ll be riding at dusk and after dark, please bring plenty of bike lights (the more the merrier) and whatever other gear (helmet, hi-viz clothing, etc.) helps you feel safer and more comfortable riding at night.

COST: The ride is free and you’re responsible for the cost of your own refreshments at the end of the ride.
