whats hoppeningA craft brewfest at the West Sac Farmers Market?! We’re there!

Join craft beer lover and noted public health researcher Peter Jacobsen for a ride to the What’s Hoppening Beer and Wine Festival at the Thursday night farmers market at West Sacramento City Hall.

We’ll sample local brews from Ruhstaller, Old Glory, Berryessa, Black Dragon, New Helvetia, Two Rivers Cider and West Sac’s own Bike Dog, as well as wine from Heringer Estates Winery in Clarksburg. Tickets are $15 in advance for ten 4-oz pours ($20 at the door).

There will also be food trucks, fresh, local produce and live music.

We’ll meet in Sacramento at 13th and N streets in Capitol Park at 5 PM and leave around 5:30 for the ride over the Tower Bridge and past Raley Field to West Sac City Hall. A special guest will join us to show off some of the cool projects that are making West Sac a great place to ride a bike.

The ride is about 2.5 miles one way on city streets with moderate traffic — please be prepared. We’ll have a ride leader and sweepers so no one is left behind. The market ends at 7:30 — bring bike lights if you plan to stay late.

Get your advance tickets at the link above (or plan to pay at the door). For information about the ride, contact Peter Jacobsen at peterlyndonjacobsen@gmail.com

Peter Jacobsen is the author of “Safety in Numbers,” a highly regarded study that demonstrates that the rate of vehicle collisions declines when the rate of bicycling and walking increases – in other words, everyone’s safer when more people ride bikes. Most recently he authored “Cycling Safety,” a chapter in City Cycling, ed. by John Pucher and Ralph Buehler (2012, The MIT Press)
