E-bikes are an excellent replacement for car trips, helping us to reduce our carbon footprints and enjoy the outdoors. But with the millions of e-bikes now being used, there are also millions of lithium ion batteries that need to be properly disposed of when they need to be replaced.
Some Resources:
- E-bike batteries are hazardous waste and should be recycled according to local regulations. You can take it to a recycling center or electronic waste facility.

American River Bike Patrol members assist users of recreational trails with emergency medical & bike repair assistance, directions, and information about the trails & their Rules & Regulations. They support public lands agencies and their respective Rangers and Deputies with maintaining and improving public safety. See their Equipment Checklist.

- Walk/run left, ride/skate right
- Walk/run on left shoulder when available
- Wheelchairs/strollers on left pavement
- Dogs on 6-foot leash to left side of handler
- 15 mph speed limit

- When passing, ring bell or call "on your left" or call "passing"
- Class I and Class II e-bikes and e-boards are permitted
- Class III e-bikes and skateboards are not permitted
- Cyclists yield to all users
- All users yield to horses
